Dr. Susan Crittenden

"The rewarding part of my practice has been the privilege of getting to know my patients. I like to work with each individual to prevent illness where possible and manage acute or chronic medical problems as they occur."

In internal medicine, the physician works with patients over time and in consultation with other physicians to diagnose and manage medical problems. Combining the medical history, physical findings and other test results to make a diagnosis can be like solving a puzzle. Once the diagnosis is clear, I like to work with that person to develop a treatment plan.

Prior to joining Cary Medical Group in 1996, I was in private practice in Raleigh for 11 years with Cary Internal Medicine.

While I’m originally from Winston-Salem, I enjoy the local activities the Raleigh area has to offer, such as riding bikes on the American Tobacco Trail. I’m also very involved in my church, First Methodist of Cary, and I enjoy the friends I’ve made there. I am inspired by the lives of those who quietly serve others with integrity.

I enjoy reading and gardening. In fact, if I had not decided upon a career in medicine, I believe I would have become a park ranger or naturalist.
